St Ives offers a selection of fantastic family friendly beaches for lovers of the sand and sea. The wonderful beaches of St. Ives are one of the main draws for families, surfers and artists alike.
Harbour
A small beach in the heart of the town, Harbour beach is a well sheltered sun trap that combines a safe location with close proximity to the facilities of St. Ives itself. Harbour beach is a great place to soak up the atmosphere of St. Ives. You can watch the passage of fishing boats in and out of the harbour and you are conveniently placed for taking boat trips to explore the area by sea.
Porthmeor
Porthmeor is a fantastic curving sandy beach with lifeguards and marked area for surfing and body boarding. Porthmeor offers generally good surfing conditions and safe bathing. However, as with all Cornish beaches, attention should be paid to the lifeguards and any flags that are placed.
Porthmeor has parking conveniently close by as well as toilet, beach huts, and nearby cafe and restaurant facilities.
Porthminster
One of the largest sandy beaches in the area. A half mile swathe of golden sand that is sheltered from prevailing winds. This beach is conveniently close to the railway station with parking available there.
Porthminster offers toilet, beach hut and restaurant facilities making it an ideal location for a family day on the beach!
Porthgwidden
A small sandy cove offering that unique "Cornish" beach experience with marked bathing area and a fantastic, sunny location. Beach huts and restaurant/cafe facilities are available on or close to this beach.
