St. Ives Attractions

St. Ives is a town with "soul". This is a place that inspires artists of all disciplines and that countless holiday makers fall in love with every year. It would be a mistake, too, to assume that life in St. Ives comes to a halt once the summer season is over. The locals are quite capable of throwing the odd party out of season and the creative spirit of St. Ives thrives all year round. We have highlighted just a few of the attractions on offer. Half the fun, for you the visitor, is discovering the rest for yourself!

The Tate St. Ives and Barbara Hepworth Museum

This nationally significant modern art gallery was conceived to celebrate St. Ives' artistic past and to secure the future of St. Ives as an inspiring and supportive location for artists. Admission price includes access to the Barbara Hepworth Museum and garden. This is the place to see both local and contemporary national art in a modern and acclaimed setting. The Barbara Hepworth Museum is dedicated to the work of this renowned sculptor and many original pieces can be viewed in the garden.

For admission details please visit the Tate St. Ives Website.

St Ives Museum

The St. Ives Museum provides information on 200 years of the town's history. The building provides information and exhibitions on all manner of aspects of St. Ives' colourful history. This includes its maritime links with information and memorabilia relating to the lifeboat and fishing as well as Cornwall's other historic key industry of tin mining.

If you are interested in learning more about St. Ives' past, this museum which is located between Porth Gwidden and Harbour beaches is well worth a visit.

Leach Pottery

Another must see attraction for art lovers, the pottery of Bernard Leach has survived very much in tact to this day. The skills and creativity Bernard pioneered continue to inspire works to this day and the showroom contains a fantastic range of one-off original pieces by potters with connections to the Leach family and the pottery.

For history and details of the pottery, visit the Leach Pottery Website.
